It is an institution in the publishing industry -- everyone reads it.

They have lots of news and gossip about the industry.

Plus they list a few deals each week. Then I go to their website and quickly scan the mail it blocked -- 99 percent is junk. The one percent that should have gone through usually is from new clients who haven't clicked on the approval option.

I check the folder in the morning and then 2-3 times a day. The spammers found that sites and send me junk, so we disabled the email option on those sites. That cut down spam a lot. It might even show the caller's phone number.

You'll see that not everyone stays on the line for the entire call, which prompted one client to wonder if he was doing something wrong.

Maybe. Maybe not.

A client emailed me that he was disappointed that people dropped off his call.

Here's what I wrote:

Don't read anything into this. They might have had a heart attack, gone to the bathroom, taken an important call, originally allocated 30 minutes to the call knowing they would have to run, lost the call because they have a rotten phone company or skype connection. OR, if you look at the start times, you might notice some people didn't get on the call at the beginning. Don't assume they just weren't into you.

OTOH, some people will drop because they aren't getting anything out of it -- and that's okay. Not everyone is going to buy from you. You can use this report to follow up with people and have a good idea of what they heard on the call. All this is positive.

Definitely review call reports to see if you can spot trends. If lots of people are bailing out at a particular time, you might be doing something wrong.

So review the reports and see what you can learn from them.

Dan Janal
www.GreatTeleseminars.com

Should telseminars have professional moderators?

Question: As a broadcast personality/journalist/interviewer with a strong
marketing sense, I wonder if there is an opportunity to serve as co-
host on teleseminars in order to make them more effective. I have
spent countless hours listening to dull and ineffective presentations
and this includes some of the major names in the Internet marketing
industry, and I really believe that I could help to make their
products sound (and sell) better.

I'd like your opinion on whether this idea has any merit, if a ton of
people like me are already doing it (and I'm just not hearing them),
or if marketers wouldn't think twice of paying somebody a percentage
for this kind of service.

Dan Janal replies:

I agree that many people who do teleseminars lack the essential hosting and interviewing skills that can make a teleseminar sound professional, Many sound amateurish.

Unfortunately, many people either don't seem to know the difference, or care. I find the same attitude with recording quality as well. I've heard many teleseminars from top names that offered disturbing sound effects that made me question their professionalism or their concern for their audiences. That's the reason Great Teleseminars Audio Production Company exists--to help people who realize they need to sound good!

So, I agree with your premise: the need for quality interviewing and recording is paramount, but I wonder if you will find a market. People want to do teleseminars on the cheap and they use free conference services that offer quality that is just good enough to get by (although I was a guest on a teleseminar and the free service dropped everyone off the line -- including me, the moderator and 100 paying clients!) .

The short answer is that you have a great idea for a service. But you'll have to market your services superbly to find an audience that will pay for it.

Good luck!

Dan Janal
Founder
Great Teleseminars Audio Production Company
http://www.greatteleseminars.com

Presentation coach Karen Friedman offers several great tips that can be used to start your teleseminar with a bang.

View her short video here:

I plan on using these tips in my next teleseminar!

Does your free conference line suck?

I've had it with free conference lines! They suck!

I used to recommend free services for people who didn't want to rent my lines and get full customer service. If they didn't need my help, that's okay, because free lines were okay.

But now, I'm getting emails from people saying their clients can't onto the call, or their clients get kicked off the call, or there's an echo.

Why?

The quality of these lines stink. They used to be good, but now there's a big court case going on with the telephone companies and the free services (too complicated to go into here), but it appears the quality of the service is dropping fast.

If you want guaranteed, high quality lines, Great Teleseminars rents phone lines for $25 for the first 25 people and $1 per person thereafter. If you are looking for a nearly free solution that includes automatic recording, try this service instead. I've tried it and it works fine. PLUS, they don't use the "free lines" that can bomb out on you.

If your call is valuable, don't trust it to a free service. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Nearly free recording at new teleseminar service

If you're looking for nearly-free recording and no hassles, you'll want to check out Instant Teleminars. Conference calling isn’t just for businesses any more!

Once upon a time conference calls were so expensive, only the largest and wealthiest companies could afford them. Now, a number of free conference call services make conference calling easy for far-flung families that want to stay in close touch.

And yes, the cost for the conference line really is zero. Don’t ask me how these companies do it, but they can – and there are no strings attached. Of course everyone has to pay their long distance provider, just as they do when they call Aunt Martha anyway. That doesn’t change. What does change is the big, fat bill you would have paid a telephone company to set up a call for 3, 4 or 99 people!

Here’s how it works.

You sign up with a company that provides this service. I use this one:

http://www.myfreeteleconference.com/promo/

They assign you a phone number that is yours to keep and use. No one else has that number. You won’t be asked to share a line with any other person, or make reservations, like some companies do. It really is yours to keep, as long as you want to use it.

You’ll also get two security codes. One for the “moderator” and one for the “audience.” That’s a hold over from the corporate days. No worries. Until you arrive, all audience members hear music.

When you arrive, the call starts and the fun begins. Everyone can talk to each other just as if they were all in the same room. Of course, as the moderator, you have the ability to go into “lecture mode” and silence everyone else. So you can announce your big news without any interruptions. Or just let everyone talk in “interactive mode.” Don’t get hung up on the terms, just think: I talk and everyone listens, or everyone talks! It is that simple.

When you are done, you just hang up and the call ends. It is as simple as that.

The phone lines are available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without reservations. Just let everyone know you want to hold a conference and they show up. The line is good for up to 100 callers. Of course, if Aunt Minnie puts her call on speaker phone, everyone on that line can listen. So you could really have hundreds of people on the call if your family is gigantic! But only 100 telephone lines can call into the conference call.

You can even record the call on “telephone replay” so any family members who couldn’t make the live call can call in to the conference line and listen to the recording.

The only downside is that your relatives could become jealous of your free line. I’d suggest you let them know they can get their own free conference lines so they can have conferences with their families and friends, too!

Dan Janal is president of Great Teleseminars Audio Production Company that is a one-stop shopping center for experts and companies who want to conduct telephone seminars. That means it would say the callers name. Sounded like a great idea.

Unfortunately, it is a horrible implementation.

The benefit would have been that you could hear the phone announce the caller if you were in another room or away from your desk. You wouldn't have to run back to the phone to see who is calling. Instead, you'd be able to hear the caller's name and then decide whether to answer the call from an important client, or leave a telemarketer to be dead in the water.

Unfortunately, this feature is badly done in several ways:

1. The voice is first generation text-to-voice. It sounds like a robotized computer on prozac. It is hard to understand what the phone is saying. It accents the wrong syllables, which makes it even more difficult to understand.

2. It seems that caller ID can't make out many IDs. I thought my previous phone ID'd most callers, but I could be wrong. However, with this phone, it is clear that many numbers don't have names attached to them -- or the phone is not capable of displaying and saying the name. The phone says "number unavailable" which would be okay, expect it says it FOUR TIMES, each time the phone "rings." This is incredibly annoying!

3. There is a way to turn off this so-called feature -- at least in theory. I tried many times but it wouldn't shut up!

As for phone quality, the sound is good on this 5.8 Ghz digital and can be used confidently for recording teleseminars to your computer. It has a nice range, so you can go into another room, or another floor and still get good quality reception.

Unfortunately, the one feature that makes this phone stand out on the sales floor -- voice caller ID -- is the one quality that dooms it. Although I bought the phone only a few months ago, it is destined for the recycle bin.

Dan Janal
Executive Producer
Great Teleseminars Audio Production Company
www.GreatTeleseminars.com

Make more sales with handouts

Do you think people who listen to you on a teleseminar can write as fast as you speak?

Think again.

If you give out your phone number, website address, or affiliate links, chances are you are missing out on sales opportunities because people are not listening with a pencil in their hands!

Or they can't write quickly.

Or they couldn't figure out if you said 15 or 50.

So how can you prevent these lost sales opportunities?

1. Provide a handout with all your contact information and links.
2. Create a web page with all the links and say this page name SLOWLY and REPEAT it several timees. Make the name easy to remember and easy to spell. In fact, why not make two pages: one with the word in singular and the second page as the work with a plural, for example: handout.htm and handouts.htm
3. If your webmaster can design a page without the .htm extension, so much the better. It just introduces another chance for a typo!
4. Put your web address, email and phone number the CD label of your teleseminar.
5. Handouts with the outline of your presentation are great keepsakes for attendees. It is fascinating reading!

Hi Dan,

I want to tell you a short story about what
happened on the way to Grandma's house....

On Monday, Christmas Day, my husband, daughter
and I were driving to Grandma's house.

The drive was not a long one, about one hour,
and we thought it would be a good time to catch
up on some marketing audio CD's that my husband
had bought.

Well, while we were listening to one of the CDs,
we had to stop the audio for a moment to talk
about something.

When we resumed it, we wanted to back it up a few
minutes so we could hear what we missed.

My husband hit the track button to go back, but
there were no tracks!

This 78 min CD had no tracks on it!

What a pain!

We had to go back to the beginning and then hold
down the search button till we found the place
where we were. 26 minutes takes a long time to
hold down your finger on the fast forward button.

Then my husband slipped up, and hit the wrong
button again, and it sent us back to the beginning
of the audio CD! Again, I had to hold down the
fast forward button through 26 minutes of audio.

Ugh! This made me think:
'I'm reluctant to listen to this guy's products
because he makes it too hard to use!'

Are you making this mistake?

Are your products hard for your customers to use?

Remember, the easier it is for your customers to
consume your products, the more likely it will
be that they actually use them, and then want
to purchase more from you.

For example, in my product 'Shopping Cart Secrets'
you get 6 audio CDs in the mail.

Each CD is split up into about 10-15 tracks, so
each track is about 5-10 min long. It comes in
a handy box that you can carry with you in your
car, or wherever you want to go.

You also get the MP3 audio files to listen on
your iPod if you prefer that method.

And you get the online audio buttons so that
you can listen on your computer if you prefer.

Plus you get an extensive handout with pictures
and screen shots, so if you are the type who
prefers to read you can just scan through the
handout and find the answers to your questions.

So take a look at your product, is it easy for
your customers to use?

Cheers,

Christina Hills
'The Shopping Cart Queen'

p.s. After that, I've heard of problems.

But did you know you can compress your audio file so longer recordings can fit onto a CD?

If you use just about any major audio editing software, you'll see a tool that lets you compress audio.

However, be careful when you try this. If you compress too much, the file will drop words and sounds. If you've ever been on a bad cell phone call, you'll know the feeling!

Barry Ackerman of GAC Recordings, a company that records live conferences and meetings, advises no more than a 7 percent compression to avoid problems. Of course, you should always sound check your work to make sure nothing was lost in the compression.

If you are running a minute or two over the normal CD length, this could be a neat trick to get all your recording to fit!

Good luck!

teleseminar: What banks don't want you to know about your merchant credit cards service

Are you tired of paying high fees just so you can accept credit cards online?

I've found an honest vendor who will share all his secrets about how to get the best rates possible to accept credit cards for your books and information products, as well as your professional services. To make matters worse, she wanted her money back!

For many of us, our material is evergreen, that is, it is relevant from now until about 2,000 years from now. The great info you give out today will be just as helpful tomorrow and next year and the year after that.

So why put a date on your materials? It can only hurt you and it can't help you.

Having given this sage advice to my client, I realized that I made the same bone-headed mistake on my web pages! I put the date of the seminar!

Why?

I can't think of a good reason anymore!

So I'm going to spend a lot of time correcting this mistake and taking the dates of the seminars off my web pages. That's right. No strings attached. You place your ads. If people click, your free ad credits get dinged. If people sign up for your teleseminars, you're a winner. If they don't, you haven't wasted any money.

The new search engine created by my buddy Paul Cohen, who is the genius behind the teleconferencing service that many speakers use for their teleseminar lines.

He's going to launch this service by the end of the week, so you can get in early.

It's like getting a shopping spree with free ads. If it works, you win by getting more traffic to your site and make more sales. If it doesn't work, then you've done a test and are closer to finding what does work! You can't lose. And $50 in ad dollars goes a long way when average pay-per-click is just 10 cents. You can test a lot!

The search engine is called "Search Big Daddy." Don't worry about the funny name. The search engine is based on DMOZ, which is the heart and soul of Yahoo and many other top-ranked
search engines.

http://www.bigdaddypays.com/prleads

Yes, you'll have to wade through the typical sales letter you see all over the net and some third-grade graphics, so scroll to the bottom and fill out the
form and you'll get your ad dollars. They'll tell you what to do next. Please send them your questions. It's not my
business. I'm just trying to do everyone a favor!

It's a pretty good search engine too -- it's based on DMOZ, which is what Yahoo and Google are based on. So there's
no risk and you'll get advertising - no strings attached. Try your own searches and see what you think. You can promote your
books, your consulting practices, your coaching services -- at no real cost to you!

http://www.bigdaddypays.com/prleads

If you want your friends to get in on this, send them this link:
http://www.bigdaddypays.com/prleads

I like to think of it as a social network for approved merchants and trusted advertisers since the only people who will
know about this are people who are invited in. So beat the Internet Marketers and grab the top listings before they do!

Dan Janal
Great Teleseminars
http://www.GreatTeleseminars.com

Unmetered Bandwith for Podcasts from Audio Acrobat

Audio Acrobat announced today (April 12, 2006) new features that will help anyone who is Podcasting:

Attention Podcasters and Video producers! Not only can members record and publish audios to the Websites and email, they can now submit their recordings to the various Podcast networks and aggregators automatically.

“We are at the very beginning of a new way to syndicate content. Podcasting is like rocket fuel for content providers. And, with a couple of clicks you can send audio and video information to a huge audience,” says David Barrett, Global Communications Manager for AudioAcrobat.

Although Podcasting is gaining tremendous momentum with the online community, a recent survey conducted by Pew Internet and American Life Project indicates that only 13% of U.S. Adult Internet users have a good idea what Podcasting means.

“We have taken a considerable amount of confusion out of the equation on creating a Podcast,” added Mr. Barrett. “AudioAcrobat has the means to create audio and video and, once either is done, you are minutes away from sending your production to the Podcast networks. This is very cool!”

Launched in the Fall of 2004, AudioAcrobat has one the most comprehensive and intuitive feature sets to record audio and video on the Web.

”We created a technology with a low learning curve. Furthermore, there is no expensive equipment to buy. And, it is priced 30 to 50% less than anything else on the market. At $19.95 a month for the base audio features, we have made it very affordable,” says Ms. Pat Lynch, CEO and founder.

Podcasting and Video along with the base audio features is expected to be priced at $34.95 per month. When these people go home, they don't want to take time away from family.

If you are dealing with people's personal issues (home, family, health, etc.) then you can't do it during normal business hours. When people sign up, immediately show them a web page with the telephone sign-in codes.
2. Ask them to print it out right then and there.
3. Ask them to put it in their calendar, on the wall, anywhere they will see it.
4. On the day of the event, send them a reminder by email with the sign in info -- and the benefits of attending. Chances are they don't remember signing up for this seminar.
5. Reward them for attending. Give them a free PDF file or something else that doesn't cost you anything to send but has a high perceived value.

Let's assume people don't come. Life interrupts them. It happens. What can you do after the seminar is over?

Plenty.

1. Send them an email asking them if they'd like to listen to the replay. You did record this session, didn't you?
2. Ask them to buy the CD.
3. Ask them to buy the transcript.

If you have additional tips, I'd be happy to post the best ones to this blog.

Dan Janal
President
Great Teleseminars Audio Production Services
www.GreatTeleseminars.com
952-380-1554

Teleseminar Recording Tips

Here's a good article on how to record and edit your teleseminars:

http://www.circlesixmagazine.com/technology/

Throw Out Your Phone Card NOW!

I did a sound check today before a phone call to make sure the quality was as good as possible. This is standard operating procedure at Great Teleseminars so we can catch potential problems and correct them before the recording begins.

The host sounded great but the guest expert sounded like she was calling from under a sewer pipe in Estonia.

She switched phones and now sounded like she was calling from under a sewer pipe in Latvia.

Then she suggested she call on her regular line "without using a telephone card."

Duh-uh.

You might not know this, but the reason phone cards are so cheap is because they use lower quality phone lines and the sound quality is not as good as a regular line. This is okay if you are calling your cousin in Peru and don't have a lot of money. But if you are conducting a teleseminar for clients who are paying real money, then don't be penny wise and pound foolish!

The host graciously offered to pay the guest expert's phone bill (7 cents per minute, times 60 minutes is a whopping $4.20).

The guest expert called back on her regular line and she sounded great!

Isn't your recording worth $4.20 to move from barely acceptable to just dandy?

So make sure you and your guest experts aren't using calling cards. Have a handout. It can be as short as a list of 10 points you'll cover, or as in-depth as an entire Power Point presentation. The key here is to give your clients something to look at so they stay turned for the next point and can follow along with the presenter. For many people who are visually oriented, they will be lost without a handout and they will never hear your offer. By providing a handout, you'll capture this market. Your auditory learners will appreciate it too.

2. Make sure your logo and contact info are on the handout. After all, people can't buy from you unless then know how to contact you. And seeing your logo a few more times can only help you build your brand.

3. Here's the real meat in this message. Add your sales material after the instructional material. That's right. Let people know that you have additional products and services that can help them. They want to be helped. They want to work with people they trust. They are ready to buy now. Without it, I'd be dead. It saves so much time and energy!

Anyone who produces teleseminars absolutely must have an online shopping cart like www.MyEasyOnlineStore.com which is powered by the industry leading One Shopping Cart company.

It simply is the best because it automates so much of the sales process, customer service, and reminder notices. It can also do more heavy duty sales tracking as well.

I'm a bit ashamed to say that for years, I had barely tapped its potential and probably lost sales as a result.

Then I met Christina Hills, the Shopping Cart Queen, at a convention and learned a few tips from her. When I saw her web site, my eyes popped out. Just by looking at the way she designed her site and her order pages, I knew I was a mere piker compared to her.

So I hired her to update my order page. That's the biggest weakness in most people's carts. People need to make a decision to buy -- and if you do anything that scares them, they'll bail out.

She made a few fundamental changes and my sales shot up by 30 percent immediately!

Christina is offering a free teleseminar on Tuesday, January 10 at 5 p.m. PST/ 8 p.m. EST to discuss the Five Biggest Mistakes with Your Shopping Cart. I invite you to learn from Christina if you are using One Shopping Cart or its licensees like www.MyEasyOnlineStore.com , KickStart Cart, Queen Cart. I'm glad to share it with you.

Teleseminars.

"Teleseminars" are to authors, speakers, experts what "plastics" were to Dustin Hoffman in the movie, "The Graduate." It is the future.
Here's why.

Each week, I do a teleseminar and invite all my clients for free. This positions me as an expert in their eyes. It also helps me make great contacts with the experts I interview. For Branding, this is a 10.

If that were all, that would be great, but from each teleseminar, I produce products for sale: transcripts, MP3s and CDs.

Also, I can create articles based on the great information in the teleseminars. I post those articles or ideas in my blog, so I get a lot of mileage out of this. Then every Tuesday, I take my best blog entry and post it to my newsletter, so I get even more mileage out of it.

In short, it is a nice cycle that creates a continual flow of new content and products, each with revenue potential.

I use Great Teleseminars Audio Production Company (http://www.greatteleseminars.com) to do my teleseminars since they are a one-stop shopping center for teleseminar bridge lines, recording, CD duplication and transcripts. As the old saying goes, "I like the company so much, I bought it." Well, actually, I created it to meet my needs and it turns out my speaker buddies and clients decided they needed these services too, so, the rest is history.

If you'd like to read more about Trafficology's terrific tips and tactics for improving Internet Marketing, I invite you to get two free issues with my compliments by visiting this site:

http://www.Trafficology.com/giftfromdanjanal/

As for my teleseminars, I'll announce details about this year's great topic here in a few days. Here's a hint: If you are a coach, or want to be a financially successful coach, you'll love this year's theme.

By the way, if you want to order my teleseminar recordings and transcripts for the past year (39 great sessions in all) in the How to Sell More Books and Series, I am offering the entire set as MP3s and e-books for just $199. You can read about the titles here:

http://www.prleads.com/club-list.htm

Have a Happy New Year!

Dan Janal
Your Fearless PR LEADER
PR LEADS
http://www.prleads.com
952-380-1554

How to get even volume levels in your teleseminar recordings

Do your recordings have one person sounding louder than another. You can use an audio editing program to fix this, but it takes a lot of time.

Here's a great tip from Joan Stewart, the Publicity Hound

"I have found an interesting way around this problem and I wish I had thought of this before. I simply use your free teleconference line
for the call and I record it. I also record it in SoundForge as a back up. When I’m done, I call the conference line for the playback, create a new file in SoundForge and basically record the recording, then do any final editing in Soundforge. That makes puts both our voices at the same level. I did this for my mentee teleseminars and it worked beautifully."

Joan is referring to Totally Free Conference
which I endorse. You can set up your account and get 24x7 access to 100 lines at absolutely no cost to you. You can also record your sesssions on a telephone replay line at no cost. You can even let your clients call in on a special replay number so they can hear the recording at no additonal cost to you. Of course, if you charge them for access to that number, you'll make money!

FYI, you'll need a way to get the audio from the phone into your computer. You can buy one at Radio Shack for about $25. There are lots of free or very low-cost software editing programs at http://www.download.com that will save your recording to your computer.

Dan Janal
Founder, Great Teleseminars Audio Production Studios
www.GreatTeleseminars.com
952-380-1554

Telephone replay is now free!

Let's face it.

Now matter when you hold your teleseminars, some people will not be able to attend.

It is a bad time.

They're kids get sick at the last minute.

They're stuck in traffic.

Their boss gives them a last minute task.

Now there's a way for those people to listen to your teleseminars after the teleseminar is over.

You can record your calls to a telephone replay line. Your clients can call a special telephone number to listen to the call whenever they want to.

The service is free and is part of the teleseminar phone company I recommend:

http://www.myfreeteleconference.com/promo/
Click here to get your free account

When you sign up, you'll see the instructions, but I can assure you, it is very easy to record the calls -- you must select an option on a menu. You don't have to know anything about recording or microphones or software. After you tell the system to record your session, you conduct your teleseminar just as you normally would. When it is over, you'll have a special telephone number to send to your clients and let them know how to dial in.

They can call at 2 in the morning, or whenever, and they'll hear the complete call.

If more than one person calls in at the same time, they'll all hear the recording from the beginning. In other words, any number of people can listen in and hear the recording as if it were being produced just for them!

The quality of the call is very good. And it doesn't cost you a cent. So try it today!

http://www.myfreeteleconference.com/promo/

Click here to get your free account

Dan Janal
Great Teleseminars Audio Production Company
http://www.greatteleseminars.com

Why teleseminars must be in your 2006 marketing plan

By Daniel Janal
Founder
Great Teleseminars

Did you put off hosting teleseminars and building your business dramatically this year? Is that good enough to handle our needs?

Dan's answer: Probably not. Most people don't have Pay Pal accounts. If you ask them to go to Pay Pal to sign up for an account, you will lose people, guaranteed.

You need to accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plain and simple, to get people to pay. People are in a buying mode and you need to make it easy for them. I originally didn't accept American Express. Then I decided to give it a try and found that about 20 percent of my new orders come from people who prefer American Express cards. I can't imagine how much business I lost because I didn't accept American Express.

My shopping cart, which I heartily recommend, is called MyEasyOnlineStore and it will take care of all your registrations and credit card processing. Granted it is in the area of social services, so not as sought after as some other kinds of info.

She's really got me thinking.... Now I am afraid I am giving away the whole store!

What should I do?

Dan's answer: Two thoughts come to mind.

1. Is there a market for the recording?
2. Is there a benefit to you to give it away as a brand builder, or bonus item to selected prospects and current clients?

These two questions are NOT mutually exclusive. You can do both.

If there's a market for your recording, put a price tag on the product and make money.

In addition, you can offer the recording to your good prospects. I do this with one of my teleseminar e-books. It costs me nothing to produce, so why not give it away to really interested prospects? It creates good will.

I hope this helps. One cost $10 a month and was a pain to use and even worse, added stupid sayings to the end of your messages. So if you send a client a file, the message would contain a moronic saying, much dumber than a fortune cookie. It made me look like a rank amateur!

I found another service -- and guess what -- it is free! You can charge different rates depending on the quality of your content (more for harder to find information) and the audience (more for corporate markets with site licenses).

If you have 100 people on a call and 20 people order the transcript at $15, that's another $300 in your pocket.

What is a transcript?

Quite simply, it is a word-for-word printed account of your teleseminar. I suggest you clean it up for grammar and style as we talk much more informally than we write. When you look at a seminar transcript, you might see that you've re-started sentences, stumbled over words, or repeated yourself several times. By editing your transcript, you can make yourself sound masterful.

You can also add other material that you forgot to include in the seminar. You might have great thoughts that come to mind, but you couldn't fit them into the live teleseminar. Now you have the opportunity to add those gems to the transcript.

You can also add additional sales and marketing materials to the transcript so you have opportunities for additional income. Of course, any site your mentioned during your talk will be a live hyperlink, so you should be sure to include your affiliate programs if they are relevant to the session.

How do you sell transcripts?

There are several ways to sell transcripts.

1. Offer the transcript as part of the initial ordering options.

2. Offer the transcript as an upsell after they order the seminar. This is what marketing guru Alex Mandossian calls the "Want fries with that" strategy. He reports a very high conversion rate when he offers the transcript on the up-sell page, or order confirmation page.

If your shopping cart doesn't have an up-sell page, you should use the one I use:
http://www.MyEasyOnlineStore.com

3. Offer the transcript in an email after the call. For people who were on the call who couldn't take notes fast enough, this is a great customer service you are offering. For people who didn't order the session, it is another chance to offer them a product.

You can automate this process with www.MyEasyOnlineStore.com

4. After the session, add the transcript as a product offering in your online store.

5. If you are want to put a bit more work into the transcript, turn it into an e-book and offer it for sale on Amazon, which loves to sell digital products.

How can you get a transcript?

Great Teleseminars produces transcripts for 1-hour teleseminars for just $97. Longer sessions are pro-rated. Each transcript is lightly edited to remove your 'umms', 'ahs', 'you knows' and the like. For information, call 952-380-1554 or visit http://www.greatteleseminars.com/transcripts.htm Transcripts are turned around in 48-72 hours on the average but can be returned earlier for a $25 rush fee. Each transcript is delivered via email as a Microsoft Word file. You can specify typeface and size for each transcript.

If you follow the ideas in this article, you'll find increased profits at the end of the day.

Dan Janal
Founder
www.GreatTeleseminars.com

If you host a teleseminar, will they come?

Many people are hosting free teleseminars to build their consulting practices. Free seminars are great ways for prospects to "test drive" you and you content.

People love to sign up for free teleseminars since there is no cost. What could be better for them?

However, the ugly side of this is that research from GreatTeleseminars.com show that only 35-50 percent of people who sign up for free teleseminars will actually show up.

While getting any prospect in the door is a good thing, teleseminar providers should be aware of the tremendous dropoff between registrations and attendees.

GreatTeleseminar.com clients who experience better than average attendance rates attribute success to repeated reminders by email to the participants. One client actually claims a 95 percent attendance rate. How many reminders remains a matter of to be tested by each company, however.

Despite the large dropoff in attendance, marketers still should look at the registrations list in a positive light. It is a gold mine of prospecting since these people have indicated they are interested in your product or service and have given you permission to market to them. You should definitely follow up with information and advice.

Just because people didn't show up doesn't mean they don't want to do business with you. It means they got busy with something else, or forgot. Neither of these reasons are sufficient to toss the prospect's name in the garbage bin. Here's how it works.

1. You get an account with the service. It is only $20 a month and you can cancel any time if you don't like it. The first month is free, so you have every good reason to try it.

2. You call into your teleseminar and connect.

3. You call into Audio Acrobat's private number for your account and hit the 3-way calling button on your telephone. The seminar is now being recorded.

4. When the call is over, Audio Acrobat will save the event as an MP3 file which you can save to your computer, offer as podcast, or let people listen to it on a replay line.

5. For more information and the first month free, click here

or copy this link to your browser and hit enter to get the first month for free.
http://tinyurl.com/48swp

Dan Janal
www.greatteleseminars.com

Microphone recommendation for teleseminars

People always ask me which microphone headset combination they should use for their teleseminars.

There are hundreds of choices, ranging from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars for professional grade microphones.

I've tried many of them fromm the major manufacturers like Plantronics, which many people like. Frankly, I don't like the way they sit on my head and I've never been able to get a good volume because of this. Maybe my head is shaped funny, as mnay people do like Plantronics, and they are the industry leader. If it works for you, that's great!

The model that I prefer -- hands down -- is the Uniden HS915, which costs a mind boggling $9.85. I like them so much, I bought a dozen of them, in case one of them should fail (and wires will eventually break, so I like to have a backup). It will work on most phones with the standard sized jack. I use it with my Sprint cell phone all the time and it works great.

You can order them at http://www.uniden.com

If you'd like to test out headset/microphone combos, go to your local Office Depot or Office Max. They have a great return policy, so if you don' like the product for any reason, you can return it with no questions.

I bought the Uniden Power Max 5.8 GHz phone at Costco and use that for recording all my teleseminars. It works great. I don't remember the price, but I'm guessing it was less than $300.

Dan Janal
http://www.GreatTeleseminars.com

Stop the insanity; pick up the phone!

In this age of email, IM and business by Blackberry, it is important to realize that sometimes, a simple phone call can do a lot of good.

Consider that it is hard to convey emotion, humor, and personality into an email message -- especially if it is delivered on a small screen. Something definitely can get lost in the translation.

For companies with people working from home or distant locations that could include outside consultants and lawyers, communication via email can be that much more hazardous.

Consider using a conference line service. While big telephone companies have offered these services for years, many companies are rightfully afraid of using them because of the high fees.

But with an increasing competition among providers, many don't realize that conference calls can be conducted at no cost beyond the normal long-distance call rates charged by your local provider.

Here's the service I recommend.

http://www.myfreeteleconference.com/promo/

There are really aren't any hidden fees. And they hold 100 callers and can be used 24x7. No strings. They might not be as good as the quality offered by pay for play conference services, though. But if you don't care about high quality. They are probably good enough. I wouldn't recommend that you record on these lines and create a product to sell. The sound is just a bit off.

But if you are doing a mastermind session or a coaching session, the quality is good enough and you can't beat the price.

If you decide to go with a cheap phone line service, just remember, you won't get all the bells and whistles, like operator assistance in case something goes wrong. On full service teleconference services, an operator can come on the line and mute people who are talking without regard to your seminar, for example. If that's not important, that you can certainly use cheap conference services or free teleconference services.

The one I recommend is:

Totally Free Conference Calls
